The NY Times is running a slideshow on its World News page with some rather beautiful photos of a young, virile Fidel from 1964, touring the Cuban countryside on his mission to jumpstart Cuba’s agriculture. Jack Manning was the photographer and Richard Eder the NY Times reporter. Eder provides voiceover with the expected spin (Fidel rides in the front seat rather than the back because he wants to control everything and tell everyone what to do. Not of course, because the view is simply better up there.) Turn the sound down if it bugs you. The pictures are worth the ride.
